John N. Cernica, P.E., Ph.D. is the owner and principal of Cernica Engineering, Inc., of Youngstown, Ohio. Dr. Cernica established the company in 1962 after graduating from Carnegie Mellon University in 1957. The primary service of our company is Civil Engineering with special emphasis on Geotechnical Engineering. We have been involved in thousands of projects over the past years including schools, churches, office buildings, industrial parks, hotels, parking decks/garages, bridges, dams, and many other special projects.

 

Dr. Cernica has been licensed in 22 states and has written 7 textbooks, including Strength of Materials, Soil Mechanics, and Geotechnical Engineering. Several of the books have been translated into Spanish, Chinese and even Arabic. Dr. Cernica also holds certification in many areas of engineering, has received many awards and accolades in this field, and has been named Who's Who in America and Who's Who in American Men of Science.
